Merry Christmas everyone! Thanks to all the grammas and grandpas for making Ian's Christmas so special!! He opened each gift one by one and played with it rather than tearing them all open and sorting it out later, ha! He'll learn! He had a great day. Here's the proof!

Since it's too cold for the park these days (25 degrees!) Ian and I decided to make a winter craft this morning. I cut out some shapes and punched some holes in colored paper and got some cotton balls. Here's Ian's handywork!

Getting ready for Christmas

Last Friday night we picked out our Christmas Tree and rushed home to have a picturesque evening of listening to Christmas songs and decorating. Ian was more interested in playing with the ornaments than helping hang them up on the tree, but the point is he enjoyed himself. He also has been inseparable from a Christmas DVD set he got from Gramma AJ and Kathy. It has the classics Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman and one about Santa Claus. He carries it aound and looks at the pictures and we have watched them all serval times! It is such a blessing to experience the holidays thru his eyes.

This Saturday we took Ian to Mt. Hood for some sledding! He loved it. He threw snowballs and went fast on the sled with daddy. Mommy watched the fun as it is getting harder for her to maneuver around these days with her growing belly! It was a beautiful day to be in the mountains; everything was still and quiet and covered under snow.

Halloween!

Ian enjoyed his 1st Halloween outing, although I don't think he understood just what was going on! He wasn't feeling very photogenic as you will see, but he had a good time! At a nearby park they had a Fall Festival and the local vendors set up candy barrels down a spooky hallway so the kids could pick their treats. Ian was grabbing handfulls; we had to tell him, "just one". So at each barrel he would pick one candy and tell us "one" every time, too cute!! Then we went to the indoor playplace Play Boutique around the corner and they had a jumpy house and Hallooween games. A fun night!

We are loving the change of season up here! The chilly weather, using the fireplace in the evenings and the changing leaves. As Halloween approaches, Ian's TV shows and commercials are showing Halloween themed items and Ian has learned to say "spooky" and "scared". He will be a racecar driver for Halloween (what else?!)Here's some pictures of Ian enjoying his 1st real fall.

IAN GOES POTTY!!

A huge milestome today; Ian asked to go potty and then actually went potty!! We've had a potty chair for about 6 months but have never pressured him to use it. We offer it at bathtime when he's getting undressed, but thats about it. So when he asked today, we were pleasantly surprised! We bought some Pull-Ups; the diapers that pull on like underwear to aid in the transition. We are so proud of our Ian boy!!

Ian turns 2!

So Ian is now a full fledged 2 year old! We had a wonderful birthday weekend thanks to all the cards and presents from family; THANKS EVERYONE! His vocabulary is growing so fast, its seems he has new things to say everyday. A new one we are not so pleased with is "mine", but we are trying to keep it at a minimum! He is conscious of what things belong to who; "daddy's shoes, mama's water". He can say "fall down, oh no and all done". And everything is "big"; big car, big truck, big bite! He can count to 4 sometimes 5! If you ask him to count his cars or blocks in front of him he will. He is learning his colors from some of the educational books he owns and from a toy cash register he got for his b-day. The coins are red, yellow and orange and he knows the red and orange ones. He's always been mechanicaly inclined so we got him some lego-type blocks and a Mr. Potato head to put together. He got a kids digital camera that he loves pushing all the buttons on, and walks around saying "cheese!" with it! He also got a T-ball set he loves. He can really get around the playground now, keeping up with the bigger kids. He is so happy and social, telling everyone hi and bye-bye. He connects with kids at the park now, laughing and running with them. He gave one boy a big hug when he came down the slide the other day, like a big congratulations! And today he was playing dinosaurs in the sand box with another girl, very cute. He is learning to share and usually does well. He recovers quickly at least! He is now in the 2 year old class at Kindercare, his daycare center and they say he gets along well with everyone and is very loving. We are excited to see him with his new brother or sister, I expect much of the same when they arrive.

Ian gets a big boy bed!

Today we converted Ian's crib into a "big boy bed". He was so excited to be able to get in and out all by himself. He really likes the difference, he was laughing and jumping in the bed! I was a little concerned about bedtime tonight, but he's been in bed for 20 minutes so far and I don't hear any stirring about! I'm curious to see what he'll do in the morning since he can't turn the doorknob on the door yet...I also posted some pics of our weekend at the coast where we flew a kite on the beach and visited an aquarium.
