Ian's going to be a big brother!!

We found out today that we are expecting baby #2! I think Ian will be a wonderfull big brother; he is so caring and loving. Here are some more pics to enjoy.

Asserting that toddler independance

Up until last week, we only heard Ian say "no" in a sweet, baby voice, like when we would ask if he wanted more to eat or if he needed to take a nap when he was cranky. But NOW he has started saying "no" in a bratty, toddler way; usually in a succession of 3, as in "NO, NO, NO!" when we pick him up or take an object away or do something in general he dislikes. And so it begins!

As you will see in the pictures below, he got some sunglasses of his own and just loves them. He was holding them in the grocery store today and when the checker commented on them, he quickly put them on to show her how cool they look! He is getting more and more social, offering "hi" and "bye-bye" on his own to people. He is also getting close to counting to 3; he can mimic the cadence of counting and he will repeat the numbers being said on his little computer. We count all sorts of things throughout the day to help him along. He is obsessed with cars, toy and real thanks to daddy! He loves to watch car races on TV with Dave and points out "cars" and "trucks" wherever we go. He also will say "plane" when he hears one overhead! He must have learned that at school, I was shocked to hear him offer that one up! He vocabulary is really bursting, he just needs to string a couple words together now.

For anyone who may make a purchase, Ian wears 3T shirts and 2T bottoms and size 7 shoes. And we heard an interesting fact; did you know you are 1/2 your adult height at 2 years old?! Ian is 36 inches tall, making him 72 inches (6 feet) as an adult. He'd be taller than his daddy, taking after his GP Tom! I guess we'll see if that's true in about 16 years!

Tea sets and other manly things

Ian really enjoys playing with play dish sets at the Children's Museum. But when I went to buy him one of his own, they only had girl themed ones. I bought him one anyway, a Cinderella one because it was blue! He LOVES it! He stacks all the plates and cups and spoons together and carries them around the house. He pours us "coffee" (we think coffee sounds better than tea). He also loves his little play car that he pushes around everywhere. The seat opens up for storage and he puts his favorite belongings of the day inside and totes them around. Here are some pictures....
